Essential Oils & Carrier Oils
Essential Oils
Essential Oils are 100% natural. They are derived by plants, plant parts, stems, herbs etc. They can be distilled by various methods. They are a "one note" scent, unless they are specifically blended. They can have "nuances" of other plants. For example, a rose essential oil may have nuances of green accords.
Here at The Parfumerie we offer Essential Oils that are all Therapeutic Grade and many of them are also Organic or Wildcrafted.
Essential Oils are 100% botanical, therefore, their scent can vary from harvest to harvest. If essential oils are pure, not diluted in a carrier oil, then many of them should be diluted prior to placing on the skin. (This is what is officially suggested for most oils.) If they are used for natural perfume purposes, they can be diluted in either a carrier oil, distilled water, witch hazel, or Alcohol.
Longevity, sillage, and projection of essential oil perfumes will depend on the blend of the oils, their intensity and the wearer.
Carrier Oils
Carrier Oils are oils that help dilute essential oils so they can be applied directly to the skin. Carrier Oils are often times vegetable, nut, seed or fruit oils such as coconut oil, watermelon seed oil or avocado oil. These oils are usually extracted from seeds or nuts. Carrier oils also have many other uses. They can be added to soaps, lotions, scrubs and so much more.
